Query tutorial
Every site gets Query. You design SQL against connections on your server. Reports, exports, and conversions reuse those queries — they do not each invent their own.
Before you start
Register or log into the main VizGenesys website at www.vizgenesys.com. Set up your company. Click Sites and set up or add a new site. Click Download and download the client-side package.

Unzip the package and copy the entire vizgenv4 folder to your target web server. Go to http://yourserver/vizgenv4/ and log in with that same username and password.
- Click the Connections tab and add connections to your database servers (MySQL / MariaDB or Microsoft SQL Server). These connection details remain on your server. They are not stored on vizgenesys.com or any other server. Save the connection. If the details are correct you will see that you have an active connection to that database server.
- Click Users & Groups. Select a user (your first user is the site administrator). Edit the user and select which connections and SQL types that user is allowed to use.
- Click Misc and tailor theme, branding, and the data folder to your environment if desired.
- Click Jobs and add your first query.
Build a query
- Open Jobs → Add query.
- Choose the connection and the database. The designer talks to that catalog on your box — not to the VizGenesys host.
- Lay out tables and joins visually, or write SQL. Use Test until the result set looks right.
- Add prompts if operators should type a date, account, or similar when they run it.
- Save. The job id on the jobs list is what Reportix / Exportix / the HTTP API will call.
What “hangs off” a query
- A Reportix layout can bind to this query (or embed SQL of its own).
- Exportix reads the query result and writes a file.
- Convertix is separate (schema + copy). Query is for day-to-day selects.
If Test fails, it is almost always the connection, the allowed-database list, or SQL that still points at another catalog. Fix it here before you design a report on top.
